This earth that we live on is the primary battleground in a war that has been ongoing for millennia. There are two sides. The winning army is God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit and all the holy angels. The losing army is Satan, the fallen angels and the demons. Every person who is alive on earth at any given time is a soldier on one side or the other. There are no conscientious objectors.

God has armed us for this war with the sword of the spirit which is the word of God and has clothed us with His armor. He gave us the scripture, a brain and the Holy Spirit: he intends for us to use them. Eph. 6 names the enemy, the defensive armor and the offensive weapon. Eph. 6:10-17 says, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

II Cor. 10:4-6 tells us the weapons of our warfare are not carnal or fleshly, Heb. 4:12 tells us this word of God is quick (fast) and powerful, John 17:17 states the word of God is truth and John 8:31-32 states that, if we continue in this word of God, the truth shall make us free.

The battle of the ages was joined in Genesis 1. In this series of articles we will see that each day of creation was filled with declarations of God’s intentions. Satan had to see it, but since he is not a creator, he can only pervert and counterfeit the genuine things of God, he could not do anything about what God was creating until God created something with freedom of choice: man - the last thing created. But by the time Adam was created it was too late for Satan: God had already decreed and activated his plans.
